If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the right photos in your home listing may be worth thousands of dollars. Here are a few tips to prepare for the photographer, and to ensure the listing photos of your house portray it beautifully.
If your home isn't already gleaming and professionally staged, make sure you declutter and give your place a deep clean. Don't forget to wipe down walls and cupboards, and to wash the windows.
If you're not quite done decluttering when the photographer arrives, at least move any clutter out of the way of the camera lens before it clicks.
Make sure all your lights are functioning, and that they include the highest-wattage light bulbs your lighting fixtures qualify for.
Open up all curtains and blinds to let in as much natural light as possible.
Just like the inside of your house, the outside also needs to look neat and well-maintained. Remove outdoor clutter including bicycles, children's toys, gardening tools, and any decorations including plastic flamingos, garden gnomes and other reflections of personal style.
Wash windows and pressure wash the exterior of the house, including the porch, patio and/or deck, the walkways and the driveway.
Mow the lawn, trim the bushes, sweep up grass and leaves, weed, and brighten the garden with seasonal flowers.
Remove vehicles from the driveway for the photo shoot.
